Our Story

My love for scent began with a simple wish—to make my home feel warm and beautifully fragrant. I filled the space with diffusers and room sprays, delighted by how the air transformed. But soon, I noticed something troubling: my dog began sneezing. The more I sprayed, the more uncomfortable she became.

Concerned, I began to study the relationship between scent and animal well-being. I learned that dogs have an incredibly sensitive sense of smell—up to 100,000 times more acute than ours. While humans have around 6 million scent receptors, dogs have over 300 million. No wonder she was overwhelmed. 

I discovered that diffusers, especially those using synthetic fragrances or mist-diffusion, can be stressful for pets.
Natural, plant-based essential oils—when carefully selected and used correctly—can be far gentler. Still, not all essential oils are safe for pets, and even the method of diffusion matters. 

That’s why I created JIUM.

Our reed diffusers use no electricity, no heat, and no mist—making them one of the most dog-friendly ways to enjoy scent at home. Every blend is thoughtfully crafted using 100% vegan, naturally derived ingredients and essential oils that have been carefully researched for safety when used properly around dogs. Reed diffusers work through passive evaporation, meaning the scent is gently dispersed—without risk of concentrated inhalation or contact with the skin.

It took time, patience, and countless hours of testing to find scents that are not only beautiful but safe. Throughout it all, my 8-pound bichon sat peacefully by my side—never sneezing, always at ease.

Essential oils, though costly, offer more than just a pleasant aroma. They carry the quiet power of nature—restorative,
honest, and kind.
